Google rejected last week’s submission. Thank goodness. It is not what we planned, but it aligned with today’s goals. Let me explain.

Last week, we submitted an updated version of our extension that only included the revised icon without rounded corners. Knowing the submission was incomplete, we intended to make more adjustments to the description this week and make another submission. So, in a way, last week’s rejection was a win — we’ll take it. Hopefully, it does not happen again this week.

We planned to make videos using last week’s screenshots. Today, we decided that it was not worth our time at the moment. Why? We felt spending time making a video using two screenshots would be nice to work on in the future, but we could focus on describing our work for now.

The task of describing our work should be straightforward, right? Well, that’s what we thought too. It turns out, stating ‘Install this to remove your LinkedIn feed’ is not sufficient. Or to put it in Google’s words, “Description provided is insufficient to understand the functionality of the item.” Thinking about that. It makes sense. We should have documented more to allow a potential user to understand how our extension works. So we spent some time today refining our description.

In addition to our description, it seems we developed a brand theme today. We thought about including additional images for our extension on the chrome homepage, and we ended using our icon from last week to develop some fairly consistent images. The images we clean, consistent, and simple. That may just be our brand — clean, consistent, and simple.

Next week, we are considering developing a site to share the story behind the extension and help others understand the bigger picture behind the extension.

Cheers to next week.
